Matt Friedrich
Chief Legal Officer
Matt Friedrich is Chief Legal Officer at Galaxy. He brings more than 25 years of legal experience spanning the public and private sectors, with deep expertise in leading in-house legal teams, complex litigation, and compliance. Prior to joining Galaxy, Matt served in various senior in-house legal roles, including at Cognizant Technology Solutions, where he served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel, overseeing global legal, compliance, and government affairs functions, and at Chevron, where he served as Chief Corporate Counsel. Matt was also a law firm partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Boies, Schiller & Flexner, representing multi-national companies in cross-border investigations and litigation. Earlier in his career, Matt was a federal prosecutor, spending 13 years at the U.S. Department of Justice and concluding his public service as the Acting Assistant Attorney General of the Criminal Division. Matt is a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the Management Committee of Kentucky River Properties, LLC., and a board member of the UVa College Foundation. Matt is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, where he was a member of the Texas Law Review, and the University of Virginia. Following law school, Matt clerked for United States District Judge Royal Ferguson in the Western District of Texas.
